Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA)

Climate Change

The industrialization process that has gained momentum after the 1929 industrial revolution has brought important problems along. Especially climate change brought about by the increase in gases damaging the ozone layer is the topmost problem. To reduce the emissions of the mentioned gases; (carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxides, sulfure hexafluorure, HFCs and PFCs), the KYOTO protocol signed by most of the countries has come in effect in 2005. Our country has signed the protocol, in August 2009.

The contribution of the transportation industry in the total CO2 emissions in the world is around 14%, and 5% of this is caused by airport activities. Every industry is working to fulfill their responsibilities against climate change in their area. ACI (Airport Council International) has started the “Airport Carbon Accreditation” project and it invites all the institutions in the industry to work towards decreased CO2 emissions.

“Airport Carbon Accreditation”; involves the application of a sustainable management plan to reduce CO2 emissions. Fraport TAV Antalya Airport has decided to fulfill the requirements of the project and to maintain it sustainably.

Fraport TAV Antalya Airport Carbon Accreditation

Airport Carbon Accreditation studies is a part of our Integrated Management System Policy. As a result of the studies carried out in this direction, the organization has been accredited as "Mapping" on 06 August 2010.

Systematically conducted studies have provided significant reductions in both direct and indirect emissions. With these results, the organization has been accredited "Reduction" in April 2011, "Optimization" in May 2012 and "Neutarlity” in 2015. Accreditation is maintained with determination.

The first "Carbon Footprint Report" was published in 2010 and continues to be published every year.

The first "Carbon Management Plan" was published in 2011 and is regularly revised every 3 years.

The organization publishes the "Climate Change Report", which contains short- and long-term targets and carbon emissions data as well.
